Session Overview:
The typical classroom has evolved over the years and in the 21st Century; technology has played a significant part in its evolvement. The ability to access high quality digital learning resources is altering the educational landscape.
There is a need to blend technology and space to create a learning environment that is conducive. Understanding what constitutes an effective blueprint is critical in the design of creative learning spaces. The most practical are those that are productive and instil confidence, flexibility and inspiration in those who utilise them.
Mary will take you on a journey to discover a kaleidoscope of creative design strategies to enhance the learning classroom and experience.

Presenter Biography:
Mary Featherston is an interior architect specialising in design of contemporary learning environments. Design projects include interactive exhibitions and learning spaces in children’s centres, schools and cultural venues. The focus of her research and practice is the relationship between pedagogy and design of the physical environment.
Mary is a consultant to architects and schools - public and private.
Mary is a guest lecturer on the relationship between pedagogy and design at Melbourne and Swinburne Universities and R.M.I.T. In 2005 she presented at the International Conference on 'Thinking' and was a juror for the ‘My ideal School’ competition presented by ‘The Age’ newspaper.
Her work has been published in local and international media. Mary has been a consultant to the Victorian Arts Ministry and Department of Education and the Queensland Education Department.
