Manchester Primary School

During term 2 2005 the school audited existing units against VELS and tweaked, discarded and wrote new units. This has been an ongoing process during 2006. We are halfway through updating our Scope and Sequence Unit Chart.  Unit development has been a learning curve for all concerned as we learn new terminology and dealing with, what once was,  the hidden curricula.  Our  school uses the Integrated Unit approach and as such, we find the linking of Domains and Dimensions to be of familiar territory. We are updating our unit template to one that meets our needs and is not too cumbersome whilst still ensuring teachers are cognisant of the modes of learning and skills and behaviours necessary for the students to have optimum learning.

 During the unit planning teachers are aware and take into consideration a Differentiated and Negotiated Curriculum.
